You'd think I'm some kind of gigolo given that I haven't slept in the same bed twice since Friday night of last week, but that is my life of late, Avid Reader. I'm actually enjoying the thought of sleeping in the same bed for the second night in a row tonight, but will quickly break the string with a venture to Scotland this weekend! WOO HOO!
I've taken a whole of seven photos on this trip -- four of which were of my awesome bathroom in Hamburg, two of the view of "Munich" from my hotel window, and one of my massively swollen ankle from the long day of travel from Seatle. But instead of rue the fact I do not have photos, I'll post those kindly taken by others of the places I've been to, but did not really experience, save the Microsoft offices and airports.
Munich
Such stunning fall colors! The office was due East of the airport and the charming town was due West. Unfortunately, the hotel was near to the office as well. But amazing airport altogether! And I enjoyed a whopper of a beer in the hotel bar with my colleague Emanuela before nearly face-first crashing into my German burger at 8PM! Fun story though... we had to push our way past some security stantions to get in to the hotel after our time in the office... turns out, FC Bayern Munchen stays at the Dolce as well. We had brushes with internationally reknowned futball stars. They didn't recognize me.
Hamburg
Dark & rainy on arrival, but another awesome airport! The Germans do aviation right, I tell you! Amazing bathroom at Le Royal Meridien Hamburg; you know I love a great bath and this tub provided just that! I was able to see some sights on the way to the office in the cab, including a charming lake surrounded by cathedral spires. I saw enough to know I didn't see enough. I can now cross the train station (1995) and a few roads off my list, but add Hamburg as a whole to that which I want to experience in the future!
London
London feels like home. I "commuted" again this morning through Green Park, in front of Buckingham Palace, and past the same security guard who always greets me at the Cardinal Place office. And, oh, look, there's Westminster Cathedral again right outside the office window. And pints before lunch did you say? Count me in! It's good to be "home".
